Alex Friend is a film editor currently based in New York City, specializing in documentaries. His areas of interest include environmental issues, social justice, urbanism, and the arts.

His passion for crafting compelling true stories began with a brief foray into print and online journalism as a writer and editor for his high school newspaper. After buying his first DSLR, Alex began to shoot and edit his own documentaries. He graduated from Temple University's Honors Program with a degree in Film & Media Arts.

Alex started his career serving as a production/post-production intern for multiple seasoned documentary filmmakers, including Academy Award-nominated director Brett Morgen. He's served as an assistant editor on multiple feature documentaries, including two for HBO -- Happening: A Clean Energy Revolution (dir. James Redford), which premiered on HBO in December 2017, and Jane Fonda in Five Acts (dir. Susan Lacy), which will be premiering at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival. 

Alex is currently working on another HBO documentary feature as an assistant editor. He also lead edits short documentary content.
